Just found out something about Imperial Japan that woukd have made them more horrifying in the show

In our world, Japan occupying China was a monumental task. China just had a larger population.

Japan's way around this was to encourage the soldiers to breed with the local women. This would create a type of bridge between the two civilizations.

Its basically Longshank's plan from Braveheart, and every bit as horrifying and repulsive.

The emphasis on breeding as opposed to marriage gives you an idea about how the women were treated. Their wombs/bodies were a commodity of the Empire (🤢).

The creators of the show no doubt knew about this having done their research, but the premise alone is asking a lot from the audience

Seeing young white and black women getting taken advantage of would have been too much to stomach.

I'm so happy the Axis powers lost. The Allied powers weren't perfect, but that shit Japan was doing was so demonic
