Pressonify.ai just published a press release from inside Claude using MCP — here’s what was built for the Citation Economy

There’s a fundamental shift happening in how information gets discovered. We’ve been calling it the Citation Economy — the idea that visibility is no longer determined by Google rankings or journalist relationships, but by whether AI systems cite you when users ask questions.

Think about it: when someone asks ChatGPT “what’s the best PR platform for AI visibility?” or Perplexity “how do I get cited by AI?” — the answer isn’t pulled from a Google SERP. It’s synthesized from sources the model considers citable. That’s the Citation Economy. Your press release either exists in that citation layer or it doesn’t.

We built Pressonify.ai around this thesis, and today we shipped v2.10.0 with what we believe is the first MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration for press release publishing. You can now generate and publish a fully optimized press release directly from Claude Mobile or Desktop in under 15 seconds.

But the MCP integration is just the distribution mechanism. The real product is a closed-loop Citation Economy workflow:

∙	LLM Prompt Simulator — before you publish, see how ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude would cite your release. This is the Citation Economy equivalent of checking your SERP preview before publishing a blog post — except instead of previewing a blue link, you’re previewing whether an AI would reference you as a source.

∙	Citation tracking across 10 AI platforms — the Citation Economy only works if you can measure it. We track where, how, and in what context AI systems reference your news after publishing.

∙	5-dimension citability scoring — scores your release on relevance, uniqueness, authority, specificity, and structural optimization. These are the five dimensions we’ve identified that determine whether AI systems treat content as citable or ignore it.

∙	36+ AI Discovery Protocol endpoints — ADP is the open standard we’re building for the Citation Economy. It provides structured metadata that makes content machine-readable for any AI system, not just one platform.

The workflow is: Create → Simulate → Publish → Track. Traditional PR stops at Publish. SEO-optimized PR stops at ranking. Citation Economy PR closes the loop — you see whether AI systems actually cite you, and you learn why or why not.

No other platform closes that loop as far as we can tell.

We actually used the MCP integration to publish the announcement itself: https://pressonify.ai/news/pressonifyai-launches-v2100-ai-native-citation-tracking-debd3c76

If the Citation Economy thesis resonates, we’ve been building r/CitationEconomy as a space to discuss it — how AI citations work, what makes content citable, and how the discoverability landscape is shifting away from traditional search.

Happy to go deep on any of this — the ADP standard, how citation tracking works under the hood, or the Citation Economy model itself.
