Easter egg hunts have become savage
Just a vent and “if you ever plan a large Easter egg hunt” or are going to one unsolicited advice:
First- this was volunteer led and very kind of those people to dedicate their time. That said, it’s easy to lose perspective of how little, littles are when you have older kids.
My story:
All the kids, mostly 6-10, were lined up 10 min prior to hunt (which turned into “let us go” chants) and just too much lead up- I literally got riot vibes as us adults stood by excited the kids were excited… but then…
Then they said “0-3 get in the front- you go first” … I went with my 18 month old. They said “go”… about 45 sec later they said “ok 4-6- go!”
My toddler had taken about 20 steps and we weren’t even near the eggs. Then 35 kids RAN through a 20 ft wide area- the first girl hit him, he fell on his tummy and the kids kept coming- screaming to get the eggs. I literally felt like I was in the lion king about to watch my baby get trampled. I blocked him as quick as I could and covered him as MORE KIDS hit me and acted like a human speed bump as I got hit over and over as he cried under me. IT WAS INSANE.
My baby just liked opening the eggs and the plastic- these kids grabbed, fought and hoarded eggs like it was the hunger games (my nieces included btw)
If you plan on going to a hunt tomm or are planning one, just a recco that littles can’t walk fast, don’t know what they’re doing and it’s a sport these days!
We went to our community Easter egg hunt… it’s for the neighborhood so it’s by no means professional
