For anyone thinking about getting into mods

SUGGESTION

Mods might not be a welcome topic here—if so, feel free to delete this. That said, I've seen a few posts asking about mods, so I figured I'd share. I struggled a lot when I first started, so I wanted to put together a beginner's guide as a starting point. Just a heads up—this is PC only, not console. I can answer some questions, but I'll skip anything too detailed. This is meant purely as an introduction for beginners who want to know more about mods.

I've been playing since FIFA 21 on PC, and at this point playing without mods isn't really an option for me anymore.

Here are some things to keep in mind if you're thinking about getting into mods:

The downsides first:

  1. Every game update means waiting for mod updates too. You're at the mercy of the mod creators. Most update quickly, but some abandon their mods mid-season.
  2. There's so much you can customize that just figuring out what's possible can be overwhelming.
  3. Crashes—if you follow the right steps, they're rare in my experience. Most issues are minor and you won't even notice. That said, everyone's setup is different, so sometimes even experienced people can't pinpoint the cause.
  4. Your PC needs to meet a certain spec. In my case, a mid-range gaming laptop is fine—can't run max settings, but it still looks great.
  5. The basics: play offline, use a Mod Manager and Live Editor. I've heard of people getting banned, but in six years it's never happened to me. Follow the right steps and you should be fine—but remember, it's always at your own risk.
  6. Be prepared for trial and error at the start. Good resources: Discord, Evo Web, FIFA Infinity. For finding mods, those plus Nexus Mods are a good starting point. There are literally endless options.
  7. Unlike other games, mod early access is increasingly common in the FC/FIFA mod scene—you pay for access to certain mods. Free mods still exist and are totally usable, but I pay around $18 for access to what I consider the best combination. Keep in mind you'll likely need to renew monthly, since mods update alongside the game. You can also choose not to update the game itself—that's an option too. But seriously, don't spend money right away. Free mods alone are plenty of fun.
  8. One of the biggest draws of mods is the high-quality face packs. FC26 in particular has seen a massive increase in unique faces due to system improvements.

Where to start:

If gameplay is all you care about, it's actually pretty straightforward—there are already plenty of gameplay mods available. Start there.

And honestly, the smartest way to get into mods is to try them on an older FIFA title you already own. As far as I know, you can still access all the best mods for those games. Even if you're set on the latest version, I'd recommend waiting for a sale. Mods also take time to develop—there simply won't be much available right after launch.

There's more I could say, but I'll stop here. Mods genuinely transform the game into something else entirely. Worth it.
