Why should US Conservatives care about Viktor Orban's election in Hungary?
Just a Hot Take, but why do I need to be reminded of this guy who is leader of Hungary? Why should other US Conservatives?
This is one of those things I dislike about the modern conservative movement, as far as I can tell in the US from events and news media stories. We claim to be moving towards an "America First" policy, where US interests should be at the forefront. That's fine, and it's a change of pace for decades of international involvement.
Yet, we're shoring up Conservative leaders from other countries, who have really little to do with American interests at home.
Why are we inviting these guys to our events for fundraising? Shouldn't American money be given to American conservatives?
We've got our own campaigns and issues to deal with, why give up valuable time to care about someone else's issues?
Viktor Orban is just the obvious foreign conservative leader I've noticed in recent years making rounds in US Conservative circles.
I am just not a fan of panhandling by foreign conservatives. My money has better places to go.
But that's my take, what's yours?
