Honda CB 300R first bike?

Been lurking here while getting my L’s and now looking for my first proper bike.

I’ve been riding a Honda CB125E rental for the past week — great to build confidence, but I’m already feeling like I want a bit more power.

I’m currently looking at a Honda CB300R (2018, ~13,000km) for $4k and planning to check it out tomorrow.

From your experience, is the CB300R a good step up / first bike to keep for ~1–2 years?

Also — what should I be checking when inspecting it?
