Complementary Shaders Unbound Lag

Help

I am not home to share images or anything yet. But, I have massive amounts of lag when playing with the shaders on. With shaders off I get anywhere between 600-800 FPS, sometimes in the thousands. With them on I get 30-70 depending on what I'm looking at. If I'm flying around and looking at a forest, that's when the lag happens. 60-70 FPS is fine for me if it can be consistently that. My issue is I plan to fly around with happy ghasts and elytra, so I wanna reduce this lag if possible. If I'm walking around on then ground, FPS is fine, sometimes as high as 100. Culling Leaves mods crashes the game, so that's not an option.

I'm unsure what settings in the shaders I should set. I want the game to run smoothly, but not look as bad as the Potato preset looks. I have an I9 14900k, 64gb RAM (32GB allocated), and a 5070ti. I shouldn't be having these lag issues, I don't think. I'm playing Fabric 1.18.5, latest Sodium/Iris, basic performance mods, and version 26.1 of Minecraft, default High preset in the shaders settings. I have also tried the Popular Settings preset and get slightly worse performance. 16-32 render distance results in very similar FPS numbers, 16-20 being the best but still not great. it's trees, I know it is. And as I said, worse when there's lots of them in frame, like flying with elytra. I see people online with similar pc specs to me with way better performance. So, I'm sure it's just the settings need to be dialed in.

If anyone has any suggestions or maybe even settings I should try, please lemme know! Any and all help is greatly appreciated, have a wonderful day!
