I will earn 55k for 4 Months. How to save?
(posting from r/personalfinance after someone pointed out)
Hi im 21, turning 22 in nov.
so basically. I joined somewhere and my salary base is 50k + monthly the performance bonus is 15k but the performance bonus is variable so let's hold the total at 55k.
I am hoping to convert a good MBA college, I will have the results out by mid May (hopefully). If by any chance i do not happen to convert. I have work till march 2027 (1 year).
so keeping 4 months in mind, I want to have at least 1L in my account B (primarily for savings) before June 2026.
My expense from the first salary will mostly contribute to one time expense:
-
a phone (20k) for my father
-
some small gold jewellery (5-8k) idk how much honestly
other than this my miscellaneous will be under 7k for the month.
so rest i will move to account B, and next month and so on i will keep my expenses under 5-7k as i live with my parents.
would love any advice on
-
what to do?
-
how to save?
-
how to save if i end up continuing with job in case i dont get a convert?
-
please point stuff out that you feel i should work more on
-
any honest unrelated advice.
ps: im really new to this whole thing + i dont come from a really good background. I want to save as much as possible + i am not aware about investing and investments so any yt suggestions would be welcomed.
thank you.
TLDR: 21, earning \~₹55k/month. Waiting on MBA results (May); if not, will work till March 2027. One-time expenses \~₹25–28k, monthly spend \~₹5–7k. Goal: save ₹1L by June—planning to move most salary into savings account. Looking for advice on saving/investing and what to improve.
