How to switch midi input between multiple layered synths

Playing live. Bitwig 5.

I'm playing a piano patch and want to add layered strings in parts. How can I add a toggle switch that sends midi either to just the piano, or to both?

I know I can selectively mute them but then the sound cuts off immediately and I want the string sound to trail off naturally when I disable midi input to it.
