The Democratic Union of Europe.

In this world, nuclear weapons were banned shortly after their usage on Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Tokyo during WW2, leading to millions of casualties. Both the Americans and the Soviets realized that such a powerful weapon could be dangerous in the long run. Due to their conventional strength, the world was not ready when WW3 broke out in 1974, and it was a deadly conflict that saw the Soviet Union occupy all of Europe. The imperial overreach from this led to an American-backed civil war, finally killing this hulking, cancerous beast and allowing for the formal dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1989, indirectly passing the global torch of Communism to Yugoslavia, which never dared to side with China during the split, fearing Soviet retaliation. Yugoslavia came to Europe, already devastated by the untold horrors wrought by the soviets during the war, and presented them a new Communist alternative. Europe, witnessing the seeming prosperity Yugoslavia enjoyed, completely flipped the European perspective on communism in just half a decade, allowing for the foundation of the Second European Economic Community. Yugoslavia, along with 6 other founding nations, spread the message of global communism to the world, in a world too war-torn to care anymore.
