How to gain experience letterering for webcomics??

Pretty much as the title says, I'm looking for some kind of practice to familiarize myself with lettering and potentially start doing freelance work for webcomics! I have a background in graphic design with a basic foundational knowledge of typography and experience using the Adobe Suite. I am hoping to build a freelance portfolio to market myself in the near future.

Some questions I have are:

How much should someone beginning in the field price their work at?

What type of projects should I include in my portfolio and how should it be displayed?

Any advice is appreciated! :))
