I'm a 14 y/o girl and I have low self-esteem. How can I stop caring so much about how I'm perceived and what the popular kids think of me?

Hi, I'm 14, and I go to a fancy private school for extremely smart kids. Bullying isn’t really an issue here, but I feel like I’m getting bullied in a sense. My problem comes from one math class, where everyone is either extremely popular (at the top of the social ladder) or a complete fucking loser, for lack of a better term (I'm sorry).

In this class, I have no friends and no one to talk to besides math. I’m not popular, but I’m also not a loner; I have a good amount of friends, including some popular people. But this class has HEAVY group work and free seating, and I have literally no people to sit with. I really did not want to sit with the loners just because of their horrible reputations. I eventually sat with some popular girls because one invited me. I’m shy and quiet, only friends with extroverts who approach me, so I couldn’t really talk to those popular girls since I didn’t really know them well.

At first, I was lwk feeling positive, but then another one of the popular girls, let’s call her Jenny, who had been sitting with the loners, asked to switch seats with me. Why she was sitting with them is a long story, so I won’t explain for now. She hated sitting with them, ignored them, and frequently trash-talked them for being hella weird. Jenny is notorious for only hanging out with popular people, so it wasn’t surprising that she wanted to switch seats with me.

So I agreed, not realizing how annoying Anna and Elsa were. They’re probably the most irritating people I’ve ever met in my 14 years, holy shit. Anna acts edgy, pretends to stab herself, claims ADHD without a diagnosis, and dresses like a grandma. Elsa is genuinely obese and copies the popular girls to try to blend in, but she fails because she’s quiet and overweight. Everyone hates them, and sitting with them makes me feel genuinely awful.

Last year, I had no friends and almost everyone disliked me because I was ugly and very quiet. This year, I've "glowed up" and have become prettier, skinnier, smarter, and much more socially competent. I only had one friend last year, and this year I have at least 10-15 close friends. However, sitting with Anna and Elsa makes me feel horrible, and I feel like no one in my class wants to talk to me anymore because of it. Now, I know that it's not because of Anna and Elsa, and it's because I was never friends with anyone there in the first place, but I just feel so lumped in with Anna and Elsa, like I'm on their level and just as disliked as they are. It makes me feel so shitty and lowers my self-esteem so much, even though it makes literally no sense.

Even though I shouldn’t feel like shit, sitting with them makes me feel lumped in with “losers”, like my progress doesn’t matter. I worry that people will trash-talk me like they do Anna and Elsa, even though I’m not like them. Last year, I had almost no friends and was disliked, but this year I’ve “glowed up”—I’m prettier, skinnier, smarter, and have 10–15 close friends. Still, being stuck with Anna and Elsa makes me feel worthless, as I’ve never improved.

This only happens in math class. All my other classes are fun, so I don’t understand why this one makes me feel so shitty about my popularity and myself as a whole.

This whole post is stupid, and I've probably contradicted myself 6 different times. I sound like a cocky asshole, so I'm apologizing for that right now. Please just give me some advice on how to stop feeling like everyone hates me and how to stop caring what the popular kids think of me. 🙏🙏
