I thought I was infj but now I don’t know…

CAN’T DECIDE

Exactly what the title says, I genuinely don’t know what type I am. It’s not that I don’t understand cognitive functions or that I’m indecisive, but I can read one type and feel completely sure it’s me, then read another and feel just as convinced.

I recently thought I was INFJ, but after observing Fe-heavy people in my family, I’m not so sure. They’re very expressive, emotional, and love sharing feelings openly, which actually makes me uncomfortable. I do care a lot about others’ comfort and will check in if I sense something is off, but I dislike emotional intensity, especially crying or having to comfort people. I’d rather keep things calm and avoid stirring emotions.

Ni also confuses me. It’s often described in this abstract, almost “magical” way that I don’t relate to. I do like narrowing things down when writing or thinking, but I don’t feel like I have strong foresight or a clear singular vision of the future.

Here are some traits that might help:

•	I forget small, immediate things because my mind is always occupied with thoughts, ideas, or music.

•	I’m introverted with a very rich inner world, but I express it a lot with my family, sometimes to the point of overwhelming them.

•	I get intensely attached to certain artists or interests and focus on them deeply for periods of time.

•	I have many hobbies and interests, but I wish I had a few focused ones. I admire people with clear niches, and I sometimes hesitate to commit because I’m afraid it won’t be worth it.

•	I study consistently without stressing myself, so people often underestimate how much effort I put in.

•	I struggle to start tasks, but once I commit (like to an essay topic), I find it very hard to change even if a better option exists.

•	I’m organized in my own way (mostly mentally), but I also have specific standards for physical order.

•	I can be reactive and quick-tempered when stressed, and sometimes come off as mean, but I reflect on it soon after and feel bad.

•	I struggle to comfort others emotionally, even though I care a lot about fairness and making sure everyone feels included and heard.

•	I prefer learning by doing and figuring things out myself rather than following instructions, and I value deep understanding over quick solutions.

•	I’m drawn to depth and meaning in ideas, media, and interests, and I tend to share my passions openly and intensely.

•	I compare myself to others a lot, especially in areas like discipline or appearance, and it can negatively affect my mood.
