Cant connect PS5 controller via bluetooth on quest 3

i put the controller into pairing mode, it shows up in the quest 3 pairing list, but when i click the pair button, it thinks for a bit, then a popup says its unable to connect. ive reset the controller and the headset to no avail. any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
