I'm Building a Better Portable Drumkit

Feedback Wanted:upvote:

I'm done with having to do four trips from the car to the gig just to get my "compact" kit. I have a Pearl Midtown and I love the sound, but compact ≠ portable. I've hunted around for portable acoustic options but they always make compromises on the sound of the shells (split shells, single heads, tiny shells etc). So I've decided to build my own...

I've come up with a design that gives me:
- A four-piece, birch kit (16"x14" kick, 14"x5" snare, 10"x6" high tom, 12"x7" floor tom)
- Full aluminium hardware set (two cymbal stands, hi-hat stand, snare stand, kick pedal, tom mount)
- One 62 linear inch flight case (20"x18"x24") <- everything fits in here

No split shells, no single-headed-stackable-toms, nothing too small. Right now I'm in the CAD modelling phase, rapidly approaching the prototyping phase.

Before I commit money and time to prototyping, I want to know what you think about this design configuration. Are there any dealbreakers? What are your main concerns? Would you buy a kit like this if it existed?

All opinions and feedback are welcome! Thanks 🙏🏻
