SNL 5-Timers & the movie “Mars Attacks!”
I just made another post a few minutes ago, but I wanted to point this out because I think this is cool and also really nuts in an amusing way and also people are mentioning this movie in comments on my other post LOL.
The movie *Mars Attacks!* directed by Tim Burton now boasts three *SNL* five-timers among its cast, namely Danny DeVito, Martin Short, and tonight’s man of the hour Jack Black. I’m not sure if it’s a record, but it’s honestly rather impressive especially considering Jack Black wasn’t really well-known at that time. Also kind of cool when you consider that even two years ago, Martin short hadn’t joined the club yet so Danny DeVito was the only one.
The movie also just has an insane cast in general. You have Jack Nicholson, not long before he won his third Oscar. You also have:
* two time SNL host Glenn Close
* one time host Annette Bening
* one time host Sarah Jessica Parker
* one time host Pierce Brosnan after he had already started as James Bond
* one time host Michael J. Fox
* famed Welsh singer Tom Jones (the songs “What’s New, Pussycat?” and “It’s Not Unusual” among others)
* two time SNL host, early-career Natalie Portman
* former NFL player and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown
* two times SNL host Christina Applegate is in it briefly
* also, perhaps most amusing of all, it contains a very early appearance by the R&B singer Ray J who was then only a teenager.
Just wild all around.
