housesitting shit show

first day house/dogsitting for my partners (also housesitting w me) bosses. Dude has dogs that are literally not house trained. It’s an apartment so taking them out isn’t convenient, but I have done it every few hours since I have been here. Problem is, they didn’t shit any of the times i took them out, and seem to choose exclusively to shit in the house. they know to pee outside so idk why they won’t poop. But i cleaned up one turd today, and there is two more now in the dog room, just two hours after i took them out and they did not shit. I’ve had lots of dogs my whole life and my mother works in veterinary medicine and is a dog lover; i gave them plenty of time and I insist that I am not taking improper care of them. they’re simply not trained, or at least the younger one isn’t (not sure who’s shitting i haven’t seen the act in progress). They also pissed in the house twice and they track it all over (they also jump on you w their piss paws) so i will not be taking my shoes off while we’re staying here (yes we have to stay here for 10 days). The dogs are clingy and whiny also. Which is way less of a problem than the piss and shit but it’s still bothering me. I’m used to well-trained dogs, or at least ones that would not shit/pee in the house unless they were sick or absolutely couldn’t hold it (which has almost never happened with our dogs even after being inside for a long shift). This guy does not know how to train dogs it seems and i’m angry that this is my problem for the coming week. He vaguely mentioned accidents in the house, he also threw this tidbit like the day yesterday, so I feel like either he thinks this is normal/not a big deal or he was being a bit deceptive about how often it happens. maybe it’s a shame thing but it doesn’t seem like it. He’s one of those people (from what i know) who like rlly loves their dog or says they do, so I expected a bit more investment in their training I guess.

Since he’s my partners boss we just agreed to help out and didn’t ask about payment (it puts my partner closer to work anyway, saving us gas money). But since my partner works a lot more than me (I work part time and am a full time student, i spend long hours at home on laptop doing assignments) i will be cleaning up the vast majority of shit and piss, and now i feel upset about not being compensated. it’s gross and i don’t think we got sufficient warning.

Im probably being a bit dramatic and maybe harsh. It’s not that surprising, i’ve seen much worse pet owners, it just sucks. I didn’t know they shit in the house like every day. fun surprise on top of the stress of schoolwork. I was kind of looking forward to the change of scenery and now i’m so homesick.
