Is 18 to late to start dressing alt?

hello, I've always loved alt fashion but never felt brave enough to give it a go. I've started uni now and im really trying to figure who I am including my style. any advice on how to start?

im kinda worried I've started to late. I would like to wear alt fashion for a very long time but I dont know if thats accepted? if that makes sense. and im taking a science degree so would I still be able to dress alt in a science job/field? any advice/thoughts are appreciated:)
