Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian break down Trump's latest escalation against the judiciary — calling federal judges "criminals" in a speech to the National Republican Congressional Committee and demanding Republicans pass a crime bill that "cracks down on rogue judges." This isn't just bluster. It's a deliberate strategy to delegitimize every court ruling that goes against him, and the rulings are piling up. Brian and Shant walk through the pattern: the administration is losing the vast majority of its cases — on immigration, tariffs, press freedom, federal funding, vaccine policy — and Trump's response isn't to follow the law, it's to attack the people enforcing it. Even Chief Justice John Roberts, no liberal, publicly denounced the attacks on judges just last week. And then there's Trump's reaction to the Supreme Court's tariff ruling, where he went from calling the decision wrong to essentially admitting the money has to be refunded — while insisting it won't cost him personally. Brian and Shant explain why this playbook of attacking judges is straight out of the authoritarian handbook, why it's designed to precondition the public to dismiss adverse rulings as sabotage, and why the appellate process — not intimidation — is how disputes with judges are supposed to work.
