[Routine Help] Allergies or Damaged Skin Barrier?

Discussion

Hi all! Lately, my face has been itching and burning a lot. It's not severe but enough to make me want to scratch my face with my nails to get relief.

My forehead, cheeks and under nose/jawline areas are the ones that itch the most. It also comes and goes, sometimes it just itches a little then it starts itching with some burning sensation.

For some context, I bought a 10% Azelaic Acid a few weeks ago and started with applying 2 drops on each side of my face every other night. At first I didn't feel any major issues so I started using it every night about 3 nights ago.

My face started getting itchy about two days ago and today as I was washing my face with water, I felt one of the itchy areas of my forehead very dry and with a raspy feeling. There is no flaking or redness so I didn't think it was dry until I felt it on my forehead.

I'm also wondering if the itchiness may be related to Pollen as I go on daily walks with my dog and during the day for work. During pollen/allergy season, my eyes and body get super itchy so that's why I also think it could be allergies.

I stopped using the Azelaic Acid and other creams/serums to give my skin a little rest but I would like to hear somebody's thoughts or advice.

Right now I'm only washing my face with the CeraVe hydrating cleanser and using their Intensive Moisturizing Cream which claims to help with itchiness due to dryness. This afternoon I also took an antihistamine but didn’t find a lot of relief with the itchiness.
