Do you guys believe in intellectual property to be real property?

Discussion

Like the fact that you guys would pirate means you don't but I just want to talk to people who actually think if it's just or unjust to pirate intellectual media.

would you be against abolishing all sorts of IP laws because I don't consider intellectual property to be real property.

property is a product of scarcity.

A and B want a stick for contradictory use.

A wants it for spearfishing

B wants it to stroke his fire

the main thing to focus here is to understand that If A gets to use the stick them B won't, if B uses it A can't.

the one who gets to exclude the other from the use of the stick owns the stick.

I believe the first appropriator of the resource owns it, so if A takes a stick from nature when it wasn't owned by anyone then I own it, and get to exclude B from using that stick.

to take the stick from me, B has to initiate conflict, which means to harm me or to steal from me, all this would be against the idea of a rational society so we can't justify that.

none of these arguments apply to intellectual property.

if A sharpens a stick to make it sharp, A doesn't get to own that technique, as if B uses it A doesn't lose his stick or his ability to sharpen that thing.

hence Intellectual Property doesn't exist.
