is a 10 week old capable of self soothing?
My 10 week old has a pretty hard time settling in for bed for the night, and tonight we were on and off where i’d rock her and put in her paci and she’d fuss and fall asleep and then wake back up in like 10 minutes (still in my arms this whole time) and i’d rock her and she’d fuss and fall asleep, repeat for an hour or two before she finally fully settles. Well tonight in particular my back was just hurting so bad from holding and rocking her and i was getting frustrated everytime she’d wake up so i just set her down in her bassinet and put her paci in and got in my own bed prepared to pick her up as soon as she cries but really just needing a minute of stillness laying down. I fully expected to have to pick her back up in like 30 seconds but it’s been i’d say 10/15 minutes now and she’s super grunty and wiggly but hasn’t cried. She’ll grunt and wiggle and then be still and silent for a couple of minutes and then grunt and wiggle again, i’m watching her and her eyes are open but she’s like drifting off and waking back up and then drifting off again. All of this to say is it possible that she’s self soothing? i’m ofc not going to let my 2 month old cry it out or try to teach her to self soothe yet but i’m curious if it’s even possible for her to be doing that on her own at this age
