I have been using Gemini for a few months and a general sounding board and occasional collaborator for life decisions. I have realized that the last few months it is wrong 100% of the time and I have to call it out.

My example here is a simple query- I was bickering with my sister about a movie theater in our little town because we both worked there as it opened and we couldn't agree on the title of one particular individual. I thought he had a bigger hand in actually bringing the brand to our little town and was looking for validation. Right out of the gate it got the year confidently wrong. Then it said with certainty that Gary was the GM while linking me to a YouTube about a famous director with a similar name. Then it said it didn't actually know and when I pressed because I wanted to understand where it sourced it's info from it admitted to fabricating everything.

In my settings I ask for triple checked verifiable information, prioritizing fact over sycophancy and to never assume or fabricate something if it doesn't know it should indicate that information isn't available. Is there anything I can do to salvage this or is it just a write off?

Am I doing something wrong in my prompts to make Gemini be wrong 100% of the time?
