The Occult

The Occult formed during the reign of Callach by a group of his own men.

They were corrupted by Callach just like the knights, although their devotion was not aimed toward their King, but of the survival of Damanta.

With all potential heirs dead, there’d be no-one to rule once Callach perishes, hence the group formed the Occult, a select group of the most powerful of Callach’s men who all agree their needed to be successions and they all nominated themselves for the role.

Just like Callach had his tie with the Worhtend, the Occultists also had theirs.

They secretly worked together behind Callach’s back for the entirety of his reign, kindling their relationship with the Worthend by offering sacrifices.

They studied the Void and the abilities they could utilise from it, while also devoting themselves fully to the Worthend.

After Callach was defeated and disappeared for good, the Occult took control over Damanta, turning the previous monarchy into a faux-democracy.

The years during Callach’s reign were spent accumulating wealth and land, specifically crystal deposits.

The Occult understood that crystals emitted very high frequencies, but they did not know of their other properties.

The Worhtend didn’t explain the request, it never does, but the Occult did not need to understand.

They hired miners to extract hundreds of tons of crystals and put them in a hidden vault. The Worhtend told them that when the time comes they will understand why this was necessary.

The Artifact.

When the artifact fell from the sky, two of Callach’s soldiers found it and brought it back to him.

While in Callach’s possession, he used it to manipulate people and create his desired circumstances so that he could come out on top, however he did not account for his hubris and enormous ego and was eventually humbled by the Worhtend.

After Callach had gotten all of his use out of the object, he kept it in a lockbox in his bedside drawer. The Worhtend showed it to the Occultists in the form of a vision.

This is when they were instructed to steal it.

They planned their heist and successfully executed it in the night, bringing the artifact back to their chambers for examination.

Upon taking the phone apart, it became immediately clear to them why they needed the crystals.

Inside the phone was technology incomprehensible to the Occult, microchips imbedded with tiny intricate cuts of crystal, almost geometrical.
