What’s needed to convert this to 2x Chain ring?

This is a Frankenstein bike. It has state frame but I believe a shimano 1x crank set rn. I know I would need a front derailleur. The cockpit is off a high end road bike so It has controls I just need to add a cable. How would I go about getting 2x chainring? It’s current a 1x7. It actually has 8 rear gears but the rear derailler only reaches 7th gear because states derailleur mounting system.
