Is there a way to run another program instead of the game on Steam?

I play Starbound, but instead of the Steam version I use openStarbound and I want to launch it from the Steam library, in the tab with the regular version of the game. I have builds for 700+ mods, and sometimes I set it up in the workshop, and automatically launch a regular game from Steam, and only when I start the game, I see how everything lags, I restart and again wait about 2 minutes until everything restarts.
