Macbook Neo or M1 Macbook Air?

Hi guys, I’m currently a college freshman and I have a 13-inch MacBook Air M1 (2020). I’ve been thinking about getting the MacBook Neo, but I’m not sure if it would actually be worth it for me.

I mostly use my laptop for writing papers and assignments on Google Docs, watching shows, and occasionally using After Effects for smaller projects. My current MacBook still works, but the battery health is really bad now at 72% max capacity, and it sometimes overheats when I have 10+ tabs open along with multiple apps at once.

With that in mind, would it make more sense to upgrade to the MacBook Neo, or should I just keep my current one for now? I don’t really mind spending the money if it’s worth it, and I’d probably get the base model since I already have a lot of iCloud storage. I just want to make the best choice for the next couple of years.
