Eastern was not stolen from Pagans (crosspost sort of)

Christianity

Context: I posted this exact post in the Atheist sub lol and apparently I ruffled some feathers lol

As an atheist, you could even say antitheist, I strongly dislike Christianity and the other abrahamic religions, but can we pls stop with this „Christians stole everything“ narrative?

Yes Christianity stole and appropriated SOME things from other cultures and religions. But so did many other religions and yes also many of the pagan/polytheistic religions before

No Christianity did not „steal“ Eastern. Central/West European Christian’s were just aware of their environment and that some animals appear more frequently and bang more often during springtime, so of course they associate their God and Jesus with spring and light, and of course they associated him with rabbits and eggs

Yes Christianity was a tool used in colonisation, but so was every other religion. Every religion, including polytheistic ones, conquered people and stole elements from their cultures and religions. Sometimes syncretism happened naturally and sometimes by force

No eastern did not come from the Babylonian goddess Ishtar and it did not come from the Germanic goddess Ostara/Eostre bc she very likely didn’t even really exist in the worship back then
