MT19937 twist operation

In the mersenne twister, we have a table of 624 values and each time we use the twist operation to generate a new table, but in the calculations the last line is

MT[i] = MT[(i+397) % 624] ^ xA

isnt this causing on overflow to values we already updated in the current twist once we go past a certain point, is this intentional? i found conflicting sources online but this seems to be the way its supposed to be.
