Young woman injured while trying to defend her small dog from the attack of two Pitbulls - Oristano, Italy - 04 April 2026
The incident that occurred this morning around 9:30 a.m. in Oristano, where a young woman and her dog were attacked by two Pitbulls in a residential area on Via Palestrina, could have turned into a tragedy.
One of the two animals, according to the owner, was loose and off-leash.
The woman, as she wrote in a post on social media, suffered a broken finger and injuries to her hands in a desperate attempt to free her dog, Milo, from the mouth of one of the Pitbulls.
The eight-year-old dog was bitten on the back and was left severely traumatized.
"It went well, if I may say so," writes the young woman, still in shock. "Milo had been grabbed, and it would have taken just a moment for him to be killed. I put my hands where I never wanted to, but I had no choice."
"The issue, however, isn't just the attack itself," adds the young woman. "The two dogs are routinely walked around the area without a leash, without a muzzle, and without any precautions. This carelessness has resulted in injuries today, but could cost much more tomorrow. This isn't "bad luck," nor is it an isolated incident. It's the result of constant irresponsibility, tolerated for far too long. In an urban context, where families, children, and other animals walk daily."
The young woman makes an appeal: "Be careful. Never underestimate the risk. Keep your dogs on a leash and expect others to do the same."
