Questions

Hello everybody i have been asking so may questions but I’m very new to this so bare with me, so today i got some basil and mint and I haven’t cut them yet and i wanna propagate them in water, j got jars and filtered water and sunlight but i was seeing some ppl say its good if i put honey on the cuttings like on the bottom to speed everything up is that good? Also i really don’t want my cuttings to rot so is there any tips to prevent root rot? And final question is when i go to plant them in soil I’m gonna make my own mix by mixing dirt from my bak yard with some white sand and dried leaves and some compost and a lil bit of pebbles for airflow is that a reliable mix because i really can’t find any ready mix in my area.
