My mom has been using Yahoo. The UI/UX is not ideal and she is tired of the lack of sorting in Yahoo Mail. How can I transition her to Gmail without affecting existing communications?

She has a gmail. It's more of a secondary email right now.

Everyone has her yahoo account. All services, contacts, colleagues, etc. Is there a way to switch seamless while carrying forward all your emails?

Now, I did do some due diligence before I made this post. I just want to know whether this is the optimal solution or there are better solutions:

1. Import existing mail
   1. mail.google.com>settings>see all settings>accounts and imports>Import mail and contacts
2. Mail forwarding
   1. Auto-forwarding set up in Yahoo Mail settings to Gmail
   2. "Send mail as:" yahoo setting under the same account settings I mentioned the path for above

What am I getting wrong. Is this the correct way? What am I missing?
