The club needs to stop profiling the physicality of attackers and instead look at their TECHNIQUE. If the club goes out and spunks their wallet on Gordon this summer, they would have learned nothing.
Most sane Arsenal fans always criticized the attacking signings. Havertz for 65m pounds on that insane salary (285k a week) is just stupidity. There is no other way of putting it, it is plain stupid. Then Madueke, for 55 of the king's finest. That decision is beyond me. The guy can only run and dribble, he has negative footballing IQ. Always makes the wrong decision, wrong timing, wrong pass, runs the ball out of bounds, zero end product. For 55m?!!?! What the fuck is that. If we just needed a guy who can dribble, we should have gone out and signed Adama Traore he would have been a lot cheaper. Me and everyone else who said Dowman should be ahead of Madueke in the pecking order were called all sorts of names, but I think that now the entire fanbase also agrees with this take. You know why he is so much better than Madueke? Because he is a technical phenom. Not because he can jump X meters high and run the 30m in X seconds. This whole physical profiling of attackers needs to stop right now, we need TECHNICAL players.
Apologists will tell you to look at how much was spent for players like Elanga but so what? We do not sign stupidly overpriced players from the prem, just look abroad there are so many good players. This tunnel visioning on prem players is just stupid. Now, reports are coming out on Gordon, who would probably cost us something like 80m pounds... If that happens I am done, I will resign myself to the fact that Arteta has the most horrendous talent ID for attackers. When will this guy learn that signing attacking players because of their PHYSICAL profiles and not their TECHNICAL profiles is plain stupidity? There are plenty of talented technical left wingers out there such as Yildiz who would cost as much as Gordon. I would even rather sign a gamble like El Mala or Diomande who have technical prowress than Gordon.
