Family pressuring me about name
I’m pregnant with our second son and seriously struggling to come up with a name. I cant find any name that I remotely feel the same way that I did with my first sons name. I just cant picture it. From the beginning my family suggested and heavily pushed the name Joshua. I dont really love it and first really declined it.
My husband and I came up with a short list of names that we both agreed on, one of which was David. My family seemed disgusted by this name and said no way, thats basic and lame and blah blah blah and was kind of annoying about it. They said ultimately its our choice (gee thanks), but they dont love it. Of course this got to me.
The only other name we like is Benjamin, but thats our first sons middle name so that feels weird.
Yesterday my mom and sister took me to lunch and got the baby some gifts. In the card they wrote they really hope the babys name is Joshua but its our choice. Over lunch they said they think this is the best name. They just are really wearing me down and I dont have any better names, and both our families seem to love this name so maybe that would be it is basically how I responded.
But thinking more about it…I just dont love it. I dont love saying the full name of Joshua, I dont love the nickname Josh either. Now I’m just worried they’ll come meet the baby in 8 weeks and be disappointed that I didnt name him Joshua and that’ll be my first memory.
Has anyone else gone through this? I’m honestly just getting really nervous that I’m 32 weeks pregnant and still havent found a name I completely love, and hoping once we meet him something will click but what if it doesnt!
