Fellow night pharmers, what are you doing to make yourself useful?
I am an overnight pharmacist (a year out from residency) looking for ways to make myself a useful as possible to my hospital. So far I have started “rounding” on patients when I get in to check their drips and check in with their RNs to see if they need anything, I am without a tech most of the night so I do all the Pyxis fills and mixing IVs so I have things to do but want to make a bigger impact. I have a new hospitalist that is very chill and asks me to put in things for him all the time but I don’t necessarily have want to “find things” to add or subtract from the patients list (obviously unless needed) to put note on his plate if that makes sense. All to be said in my rambling ….i feel that I can be used for more things what are you guys doing overnight to make yourself useful/better patient care.
