My mother is making remarks to me and I don't want to attend a family celebration.
So I'll start from the beginning. When I was still living with my parents, I got bulimic. I won't make excuses, and I understand how terrible it is, and I tried to hide it to the end. Eventually, my mother found out about it, it was a difficult conversation, where I begged her not to turn away from me. She promised to be understanding. But it was hard to live with, she didn't like that I was waist her food, so I completely switched to separate meals from the family. She explained that it was her money and effort, and I was understanding about it. Soon I moved to live separately, but the problem didn't go away. Now my mother often invites me to family gatherings and every time I come I hear comments that I can't eat so much. The last time I was at home, she was so rude that the other guests felt uncomfortable. My cousin asked if he could take more and my mother said he could take as much as he wanted, and then made a rude comment that I had had enough food. I couldn't stand it, I thanked her and went home. Now I basically don't want to come to my house, especially if there's food there. I've already tried to raise this topic with my mother more than once, that such comments don't help me but only offend me, at the moment she agrees but then everything repeats itself. I don't know how long it will take me to get treated for this, and whether I will be able to do it in principle. I don't fully understand what to do, I don't want to ruin my relationship with my mother either
