What actually makes Jacob Collier’s audience choir moments work?

Tour / Concert

One thing that keeps fascinating me about Jacob Collier is how he turns entire audiences into choirs — and somehow it genuinely works.

It feels like such a fragile situation:

A room full of people who don’t know each other,

no rehearsal,

and yet it often becomes something surprisingly emotional.

I’ve been wondering what exactly makes that possible.

Is it his musical language?

His presence on stage?

The way he builds trust in the moment?

Or is it something more universal — that people actually want to be part of a shared sound, if someone gives them permission?

Curious if anyone here has experienced this live — what did it feel like from the inside?
