Anime that will give a (young) adult the feeling of being a “fanboy” again

Hey, thanks for reading. I’m an adult man in my early 20s and have, over the last years, watched a lot of great anime and read a lot of great manga, from Rakugo Shinjuu and The Tatami Galaxy to Monster and Nana.

These have all been excellent and are some of my all time favourites, however I have recently been quite exhausted due to University exams and want something with a slightly lower cognitive effort. More than that, I want something that makes me feel “warm” and specifically like a fanboy again; Nana, Monster, Tatami etc all made me fall in love with them but they’re also slightly more “intellectual(?)” if that makes sense than what I’m looking for here.

When I was younger, I watched a lot of shows in the 2010s like Assassination Classroom, Toradora, Classroom of the Elite, Saiki K, Bottom Tier Character Tomozaki, Another etc - I was feeling a bit nostalgic recently so I watched the first couple episodes of Yamada and the 7 Witches, which was popular when I was getting into anime but had never seen; the comedy was funny as hell in the first couple episodes but it sort of lost me when they introduced more characters who weren’t as entertaining (imo).

I think for a lot of people the natural first guess would be Shonen - I’ve seen a lot of them - I think Fairy Tail, FMAB and Noragami are my favourites and FT/Noragami S2 specifically gave me this feeling. I didn’t enjoy Naruto, Bleach, Soul Eater, One Piece or any of the long newer shonen (MHA, Black Clover, JJK) as much. Cyberpunk; Edgerunners gave me this feeling in recent times too! As did Horimiya and The Apothecary Diaries.

I’m down to watch mostly anything but I would rather avoid anything which has harem (Eg Mushoku Tensei), fanservice which exceeds the level of something like Fairy Tail, or anything with sexualisation of overtly young looking characters (Eg. Monogatari).

Stuff I’m looking for most specifically: Stuff like TG S1, YLIA, Noragami S2, Horimiya, Fire Force S1, Cowboy Bebop, Tokyo Revengers, Classroom of the Elite S1, Fairy Tail, Devil is a Part Timer S1, Fate/Zero, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

IMPORTANTLY, it does NOT have to be an amazing show - Preferably a good one, and preferably funny, but it should most of all just be about giving someone a “fanboy” experience from their teenage years again.
