IDR if I've posted something about this on this sub and noticed it before but another post on this sub reminded me of something odd I've noticed about the way this show handles policing even compared to other procedurals of its ilk
So this other post was about how Elsbeth should just be a proper consultant at this point and whatever consent decree title led her here has kinda outlived its usefulness and that made me think of High Potential, a show enough like Elsbeth that I feel like it's only the different networks keeping them from crossing over (as if the network thing could be worked out there's ways they could cross paths despite these cops being on different coasts), and how its particular neurosparkly consultant chick, Morgan, is treated more like almost-just-another-one-of-the-detectives than even any guys who've held her same archetype on earlier shows even down to a badge (but no gun) and having a partner proper (though she has worked cases or parts of them with other detectives).
So that made me wonder if, once Kaya hopefully comes back "home" and out from undercover once the actress is ready, maybe Elsbeth could be officially a consultant and Kaya could be her partner in the same way Morgan and Detective Karadec on High Potential are. But then thinking about that I realized something...
The detectives on Elsbeth don't appear to have partners and it can't be that the Doylist reason is to make room for Elsbeth in the narrative as iirc in the few episodes we saw of Detective Blanke before her departure we've seen the implication she's handling cases solo (speaking of, why have there been many episodes ever since Kaya made detective starting with the literal first full one after she did (S2E16 "Hot Tub Crime Machine") where Elsbeth's just been working a case alongside another detective like partners without the uniformed officer "babysitter" that I thought the need for thanks to her consent decree was the whole Watsonian reason for the Kaya brouhaha in S2B in the first place) so it's odd that they'd deviate from the norm set by basically every other cop show ever
