transphobic or just… confused?
i’ve been out as trans socially for a while now, and i’ve got this one teacher i had maybe four or five years ago on my snapchat. now, i never specifically came out to her, and once she stopped being my teacher i almost never talked to her again. but i guess she figured it out on her own because i changed my name on snap, perhaps i’ve told her something but i doubt it.
anyway, this morning i wake up to a notification from her, it surprises me since we never talk so i go check it out.
and… it’s this snapstory following a detransitioner named noah jade and he’s talking about how believing he was a trans woman and going on estrogen was the “single worst mistake in his life.” i didn’t even bother finish watching it because… what the fuck? the video goes on and on talking about how being trans is so awful, how going on hormones chemically castrate you and how you can’t actually switch genders.
i only responded with the “🤔” emoji because… what was i going to say? she responded with “i’m thinking of you🙏” and i felt bad so i said i’m thinking of her as well. i don’t know what to take from this, is she telling me i should stop transitioning or is she genuinely worried i might regret this? she’s an older woman in her early fifties or late forties and i think she’s from a second world country and i don’t think she is very well educated on trans people?
i don’t know. i would love some advice and insight on this.
