I am genuinely heart-broken and having to write this through tears.

I moved to Abu Dhabi from Denver with the full intention of my beloved Frances coming to meet me here via a pet relocation company shortly after.

However, because of the war and ongoing instability in the region, I am unable to safely relocate her. I have obligations here that I simply cannot walk away from, but can’t bring her here in good conscience knowing that I may be putting her in danger.

She is currently living with my mom, but my mom is truly unable to keep her due to her living situation.

I have had to come to terms with the fact that even before the move, I maybe was not be the best owner for Frances. While she is the most intelligent dog I have ever met, and an absolute darling around people (especially those she loves the most), she has higher energy than I am able to handle. She has all the potential in the world, but needs more training and mental stimulation than I am in the position to provide. Frances has aggression towards strange dogs (small dogs in particular), and will require an owner who is experienced and willing to put in the effort to take necessary precautions and to provide her with training and structure. Once she is used to a dog she can get along quite nicely, but it definitely requires very cautious introduction and close monitoring initially.

Frances will turn 6 on May 6th of this year. She is a Bernedoodle, heavy on the poodle (87.5%). She is hypoallergenic and doesn’t shed at all (I have never once found a dog hair in my house the entire time I have had her.) She is up to date on all of her shots, and has a perfect bill of health. She has never had any issues health wise. She is spayed, and weighs about 45 pounds.

I feel a great amount of guilt and grief over having to rehome a dog that I love with all of my heart and have had since she was a puppy. I did everything I could to properly train and socialize her, it seems as though she just might need a little more guidance than I am able to give. I was a first-time dog owner and unfortunately was in over my head despite a lot of research, planning, and effort. She is simply too unpredictable for my abilities, though I have no doubt she could absolutely thrive in the hands of the right person.

I considered moving back home to avoid having to give her up, but when I soul-searched I realized that that really isn’t the best thing for her. She isn’t well-suited for apartment life, or for an owner who works full time.

Frances is hilarious and has given me countless belly laughs in the time I have had her. She is silly, and has human-like expressions and a big goofy smile. She is the cuddliest dog I have ever met, and will happily curl up next to you and watch (literally actually watch) movies and shows with you. She particularly enjoys RuPaul’s Drag Race, or anything with animals. Frances is super athletic and loves nothing more than playing fetch on land and in the water, as she is an excellent swimmer.

If after rehoming the new owner is unable to keep her for any reason, my mom would be willing to take her back so that we can find another owner/family so that she does not end up in a shelter under any circumstance.
