My mom destroyed my phone and skipped the clinic because I was 13 minutes late to the car while I was sick and praying

Serious

# Tl;dr: Literally the title.

I (15F) was very sick three days ago (Friday). I went to school even though my throat was sore. Three hours before school ends, my health worsen.

I was too hesitant to call the teacher.

I was crying. There was also a ceremony about improving yourself or whatever.

I *don't* know why I'm crying. Some were looking at me, giving me looks.

I just did. And it's embarrassing. But I couldn't stop and cry again afterwards.

Two hours had passed, and I told the teacher. They gave me a phone to call my mom (\~40F?), so I did. But she said I must wait, because I will get home soon, and that she couldn't get me since she's working.

Fast forward to home, my health worsen even more. I got a severe headache, my body feels like tingling, shaking but actually wasn't. If I wasn't sick, I would have sure I would thought I got my first anxiety attack. Or something.

As a Muslim, and someone who just started praying and learning to pray (or more simpler term, a returning Muslim), I used my phone to watch step-by-step videos. I prayed Dhur, and I was crying the whole time because I'm so stiff and it felt numb everywhere. Couldn't even bring my fingers to do the correct position.

After that, I told my mom about my condition. She told my brother (16M) to put wet cloth on my forehead, and I finally can sleep... which I couldn't bring myself to earlier since my eyes are practically burning.

I was woken by my brother after, I assume, thirty minutes, and he said I need to get ready because my mom gonna arrive back home and bring me to the clinic.

Bear in mind I was still very weak, so I'm unable to move and fell asleep. I was thinking, *"Surely he'll wake me up after a few minutes?"*

I should have prayed Asr, but unfortunately for me, I was convinced that I have enough time, since I had set an alarm of one hour and thirty minutes. My mom's work usually ends at seven or eight. So either way, I'm gonna finish Asr by six.

After an hour or so, my brother woke me up again, and he told me to get ready, because my mom had arrived and waiting.

My phone showed it was *six*.

I was shocked, I told him I want to pray Asr, and he got annoyed.

I watched the WhatsApp conversation of my mother getting angry, like: "Why did she want to pray now? Asr started at 4:30!"

"So disrespectful! I had to go to work after this!"

"She doesn't respect my time at all!"

And I think: *"Asr gonna take only seven minutes, surely she can wait?"*

I wished I just skip Asr. Because when I'm at the last raka'at, my door was banged repeatedly. I could hear the very annoying, furious voice of my mother saying: "You locked the door!"

And I heard she scrambled away angrily.

I thought the worst that's going to happen is that after I finished and went out, she'll slap me.

But no, she used keys to unlocked the door and barged in my room. I was still praying. I thought, when she saw me praying, she'll wait.

Now, as insane as this sounds... she takes the phone and toss it away furiously (which hits the carpet on the floor of my room). I could still hear the audio, so I continued. But then she picked it up threw against the wall, and I panicked.

I called her, many times (which made my prayer invalid), and she just keep throwing it against the wall until it broke into three pieces. She never stopped. Never hesitated. Straight out blind rage and never listen to my begs.

My begs were mainly consisted of *'umi'* (which is my family version of 'mom') and one or two 'please'. If I were her, I would hear my daughter whose voice was hoarse voice from sore throat in distress, with a hint of fear and panic, and might burst into tears at any point.

She looked at me, pointed at me, and said: "Never, *EVER*, locked your door! And respect my time! I had to work after this! Who do you think you are?! Never use your phone again!"

And she walked away furiously.

I *want* to cry, but if I did, my headache will worsen.

I lost everything. My gallery, my notes, my writing, my art. I haven't backup everything. I never expected everything to happen. The worst I thought was probably a slap on my cheek so hard it was pink and throbbing (heck, might even feels hot).

We never went to clinic. She took a bath and stayed in her room. Which is super ironic.

My brother did not care. He said he already warned and woke me up before she had arrived. It's 'my fault' that I didn't do my Asr prayer earlier.

My little brother (14M) said I deserve this because I didn't listen to her. He, in fact, still bring up that it was ultimately my fault and that my broken phone was entirely on me.

My sister (15F), while sympathised for me, did not want to deal with 'trauma dump' (she literally went back from her evening school, trying to eat what she had bought) and said I was stupid for being dependent on a phone to pray (she didn't even know how to pray).

Overall, I regretted *everything*. I should have skipped Asr, or asked my mother if she can wait, and I still, in fact, sick.

Time seems really matters to her, since she's going to continue work later.

And I'm devastated with my phone. I really like it. She bought it for me because my old phone is Android 7. I don't know what to do anymore. There is so much precious data in it.

As of my health this Sunday, I got better significantly. No longer hot nor have headache. But my throat is still sore, and I have this annoying 'runny but not runny enough that I could blow it off' kind of runny nose. It bothers me so much because whenever I breathe, I feel like I'm sniffing up my snot. And when I blow it off, I CAN'T. *IT'S DRY.*

Either way, I'm also using my brother's old medicines, because as you know, I never went to clinic. Lucky for me, he does have some sore throat medicine.

My mother acted like nothing had ever happened three days ago. It's *uncanny*. Though she does looked at me coldly.

My sister had let me borrow her phone, since she use her laptop more, anyways. And I meant, she use the poor phone sparingly. Sometimes she even lets it died or even forgot the existence of it.

And very lucky for me, my notes are very safe since I use Simplenote (keep being peak), which is inherently a cloud-based note with accounts and sync across all devices.

I'm scared that if she saw me using my sister phone, she'll crash out again. Either one: break the phone (again), or two: gets mad at me and forbids me of using my sister's phone (since she 'no longer allowed me to use *ANY* phones ever again').

Look, madam, I don't know how deranged you boss are that me being late for thirteen minutes gonna make them cutting a month's worth of your salary or something, but breaking your sick daughter's phone in the middle of her prayer, which she is actively using to pray, is never justified and quite frankly, an *extreme* overreaction.

This situation is so crazy that I have to rant about it. Originally wanted it to be in r/AITAH, but then I realised I will break a rule (must be a grey area, not clearly who's in the right), so nah.

Okay, toodles, this girl's out.

P.S: Eventually, I will provide the image of the destroyed phone. On Monday, maybe.
