Advice on what to do next (Nikon D3300)

I broke my gear

I have had my Nikon D3300 for approx 9 years. It gets a lot of use, mainly photos of my children, food photography, taking photos of my pottery and also taking videos of me doing ceramic work (the ceramics is for social media content and this is something I want to do full time).

Last year I accidentally tripped and dropped the camera in a reservoir and immediately grabbed it, turned it off, took it apart, and took the battery out and put everything in rice for a few days.

Miraculously the camera survived. A few weeks ago, I took the memory card out and when I went to put it back it, it wouldn’t click into place, it just kept bouncing out! I took it to a camera shop and they have told me it will cost £139 to repair.

I have wanted to upgrade my camera for a while and finding out the cost of repair is making me think I should bite the bullet and just upgrade my camera now. Is this wise or should I just get it fixed? Is it worth fixing when this camera isn’t probably worth more than the repair?

Also I don’t know what the next ‘step up’ is in terms of cameras? I want something better than a Nikon D3300 but I don’t know what’s a good transition as a hobbyist? When looking at different cameras online I really struggle to know what I need next?

If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated ❤️
