Purchasing a better ThinkPad for college

Hello, I am currently a senior in high school and soon going into college. I have been rocking a simple t480 which does the job for now but have been accepted into Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I want to definitely upgrade into a better ThinkPad and I have had my eyes on the p14s gen 6 with AMD Ryzen AI 7 350. I need something that can run CAD programs but not be a complete nuisance to drag around, I already have a desktop that can take much heavier workloads. I also heard that it has a good battery life and such.
