What do you say after someone tells you they SH?

Hi I'm 16F and my friend 17F has recently confessed to me that she self harms and her mental health has been bad. I vaguely remember her talking about her school councillor wanting her do something like ptsd trauma therapy and about how she self harms quite alot. She said im the only person she's told about this because we both know how an african family would respond to this type of news.

Today she told me that she thinks she's going to be admitted to a hospital soon and they will probably keep her for 2 weeks.

I've been trying to talk casually but also understanding in conversations with her about these topics but I'm not sure if im approaching it the right way. I dont want to act all dramatic, i want her to be able to talk to me comfortably but I'm not sure if there's certain phrases or words i should avoid.

This may sound a bit grim but anyone who has self harmed or is just confident in speaking on a topic like this, how would you want someone to respond after you've told them you're self harming?
