Starter coffee machine recommendations

Well, as the title suggests I'm looking for a good starter machine. nothing too fancy.

I've been into coffees for a while and have my choices figured out. for now my brew equipment is a trusty Moka Pot.

I've been looking to upgrade to something better (?) or just looking for a change rather.

The cheapest decent machine I found was probably the De Longhi ec890 and I've been considering getting one.

Any opinions on this? is it a good starting place? or do fellow coffee enthusiasts recommend starting with a better piece of gear?

budget isn't a constraint per se but I don't want to spend too much to start with and then figure out I spent too much on a novelty purchase that I don't see myself using too much. I wanna start basic and work my way up.
