Hot Take: Blue Lock vs France Draw Incoming

SpoilerManga Discussion

I’m calling it now—the match between Blue Lock U-20 and France is going to end in a draw.

Japan isn’t making it through this stage without being tested. But instead of taking a loss, it makes more sense for them to end up with a tie—something that still shows their growth while proving they’re not invincible. Winning every game just wouldn’t feel realistic.

And honestly, it wouldn’t be a good move for Blue Lock to beat France this early anyway. France is the favored champion, and it’s only the second round. If Blue Lock wins here, it kills the tension. France is supposed to be that wall—the team you don’t overcome right away.

Early in the match, Hugo comments that “suitability would be beneficial for Isagi” and forces him into the number 2 role. Isagi loses himself, reacting instead of leading, and France maintains control.

But the second half changes everything. The substitutions of Kunigami, Shidou, and Barou force Isagi to adapt, and along the way, he discovers something—a new insight that upgrades his vision. He regains his confidence and returns to his usual self, controlling and manipulating the flow with precision. He starts using everyone’s movements to his advantage, even Loki’s speed, turning the field to his will.

He assists a goal that brings Blue Lock closer, leaving France only one ahead—but now all eyes are on him. Loki, Hugo, and Charles grow wary of Isagi. Even Loki starts to feel worried and pushes himself to full force. Hugo evolves as well, acting as the final wall—but Isagi reads everything.

In the last play, Hugo tries to break Isagi, saying something meant to trap him—but Isagi predicts it. Using his upgraded vision and calculated thinking, he breaks Hugo’s ideals, turning the trap against him.

Loki immediately follows up, trying to stop Isagi—but even with all his speed and full force, he fails. Isagi executes a perfectly calculated play and ties the score.

Blue Lock U-20 vs France ends in a draw—not a loss, but a statement.
