I'm Going To Be Tipping $2.5 a Person From Now On Regardless of Price
Firstly, let's agree on some facts. Everyone in CA gets the minimum wage of $16.90. Server's aren't paid just the fed minimum the way they used to be.
Secondly, everyone deserves a living wage, but it's between you and your employer to set that wage. Don't rob the other working stiffs also on a minimum wage so others get a living wage.
So I decided I don't want to do this 20% tipping thing. Things are just so expensive now that even Olive garden is close to $100 for a party of four. Also, I just am not getting this amazing service, not even good service. The person comes over when they have time, takes your order, delivers your food and takes away your plate. Is that worth $20?
Finally, lots of these restaurants are huge corporations and they need to pay their people what they are worth not externalizing the cost on to the customer.
Lots of people in retail are also on minimum wage.
