How should I go about giving my cat a bath

My cat is a former stray who often goes outside to use the bathroom because she hates the litter box. Unfortunately, she’s now caked in mud because of recent rain and tornadoes. What is the best way to bathe her with minimal injury to myself?

She’s already acquainted with the bathtub and she knows that water comes out of the faucet. She likes to occasionally sit in there for some reason. But I don’t know how to introduce a bath to her without traumatizing her.
