Just did 1st night of CIO with 10 month old

6 - 12 months

My baby had been cosleeping and nursing all night since 6 months due to a lot of changes and it just wasn’t working for us. I initially tried the PUPD method and I definitely think it helped her get used to her crib, but she was waking up multiple times at night and staying up for hours just fighting it despite being exhausted. On night 5 I told my husband I was ready to pull the plug because I felt like she was ready for it. I was very very anxious and I left the house and he was the one who did it.

I was expecting it to be a lot worse! He put her down at 7:50 and she was asleep by 8:15. 25 mins! She slept all the way until 2:20 am and took a bottle, got herself back to sleep within 3 mins of being put down, then slept until 6:20 am. I am so proud of her! I was very very scared but I wanted to share this to encourage people who are scared of harming their babies emotionally or of it being brutal. She woke up happy and well rested and I am so so proud.

Definitely set up a good routine to help that transition be smoother, I think that helped us a lot, but I’d say overall I’m impressed. I’ll update with how the next few nights go!
